Obsidian Armor: The bane of my life.
After spending many, many weeks coming up with the dosh for FoW armor, I must say it's harder to actually get too, than to come up with all the materials, etc.
I spent a good long 7 hours looking for a Forgemaster group today, and guess what! 3 of them get cut off, resulting in the entire team disbanding about half way through!
Next time I tried, I found that it was my turn to be cut off...
So I decide to have yet another go at it, another 3 people got cut off, but we eventually made it to Forgemaster...
And did I eventually get the armor?
Nope! Forgot to bring the Bolts of Cloth!
Why do people always seem to get cut off in Fissure? What's with that!?

It really all depends, when I got mine, it was a PUG that just seemed to cover all basis, we made it in 45 min or so give or take counting breaks, it really all depends on the group, key is not to get discouraged... I was also the only one getting it in the group.
*edit we cleared about 3/4 and most people had to leave then we stuck around and cleared the other 1/4 with a e/mo necro and war :P

I've seen that many times, people get to the forgemaster and forgot their fur squares or cloth or hide or whatever. The problem is for some of the classes they want a ton of that stuff to make the armour and sometimes it is weird eclectic stuff like Vellum, or Spiritwood, or some such material that no one has anyways.
I personnally went to guildwiki, got the complete list, double-checked, printed it out, and made sure I had it before I went.
Got a good group the second or third time out and got everything I needed, then went back to get the bloodstained boots just so I could always be styling when I decided I wanted to be a MM.

I feel the pain of the OP, although I suffered alot worse, it's bad enough trying to find a PuG to do Forge Master, it's even harder to find one as an Assassin.
After about 2 hrs of trying I finnaly scraped 1 together with a few people who were desperate aswell. We lost 3 people in the first 20mins, and Ele and Warrior and a Monk. So we had to 5man the rest, took us about an hour and a half.
Good news is that we did finnaly get there in the end, ill post some screenies later on, good times.

I made it on my first trip for my monk and necro's armor. I usually never said I was going there to buy armor, but we just did. Then on my mesmer I got a grou p full of idiots and didn't make it. But the second group that I got right after did. Because that group was a friend of mine Jerrypants and some of his alliance members. Hahaha good times. I don't expect you people to know who Jerrypants is, but I like his name.

hire a guild for 50k, if you have money for fow armor, 50k shouldnt be much but if you dont wanna do that, get some guildies. you should be able to trust them. things do happen though

Eh, that takes the fun out of it, better actually working for it (besides gathering all the mats, but really, don't waste 50k when it can easily be done with a skilled even somewhat not as experienced (not noob ) group...

Put together a group yourself if you feel confident in your own abilities. Preferably from your friend list.
If you must get pugs, ask them their build, not just "LF a monk and a nuker". The monk might be a mending bonder and the nuker might "nuke" with firestorm and searing heat, achieving nothing other than scattering enemies.

I also had trouble when I got my Obsidian. Always seemed like getting to the forgemaster wasn't that tough untill I needed to buy the armor. Then, suddenly, I couldn't get a group that was capable to making it that far for a week.
Eventually it worked out. Best purchase of my GW experience so far.
